Chainsaw Carving at Lowes Customer Appreciation Day!

For “Those People” who may not be aware, today is Lowes Customer Appreciation Day. To many that may not sound too thrilling, however you never know what you may find or miss out on. Today, I made plans to attend the festivities with all intentions of grabbing a free lunch they usually offer and sneaking a cup of coffee from the lumber department. However today’s visit offered something new, creative, and enticing. A local artist was invited to setup shop in front of the store at the main lumber entrance. He had a pretty elaborate display of finished products and by the video I managed to capture below, you can see he was actively carving another piece with a chainsaw. Of course I’m sure all his products were purchased at Lowes as I also recommend.

We have our own photography studio now!

For a few months now we’ve been subtly and not so subtly hinting around at something big we’re working on…the cat is now out of the bag. Wes Brown Photography now has it’s very own studio space and we’re excited to invite everyone in.

On Friday February 15th, not only will we open up our doors at 6pm, but so will all of our “roommates”…but I’ll get to that in a minute.

Our portion of the event will take place from 6pm to 9pm and be called Facebook Friday. We’re inviting anyone who attends to get a headshot that we’ll put on Facebook for you as a gift. Going out for a Valentine’s dinner? Stop by and we’ll be more than happy to take a photo of the 2 of you. Face it, we all need an update to our same old Facebook profile photos.

Our studio, which we affectionally call The Brown House Studio, is located on the top floor of The Carnegie Community Arts Center. On the 15th many of the artists, developers, programmers, videographers, etc will all be on hand in the building to showcase their many talents.

As for us, please feel free to stop by and treat yourself to the gift of photography. Moving forward the studio will be available by appointment and look forward to working with all of you in the future.

Thank you for supporting us and helping us reach this very important step in our photography.

Planetary Resources plans to Asteroid Mine

If you checked out today’s episode #22 of TPH, you may have heard me mention Asteroid Mining. If you didn’t, go listen now! A company called Planetary Resources plan to utilize the outer space technique to acquire precious metals and minerals from 1500 or so asteroids that are fairly close to earth. This is the same company that not long ago told us ANYONE would be able to take a trip to space and back. Well, they made that happen. With billions of dollars strategically invested, the company claims to begin profiting from the journey beginning day one. I wish we had more forward thinking companies in the US with this mentality. Their goal is not just to benefit themselves, but the greater good for all.

Now, I just need to figure out how to ship @ThosePeople up there, maybe they could convince me Green Lateran IS real?
